Good, not great

Now that I've had the Bohn Dakar Armored Shirt for a couple of months, here is my opinion of it, YMMV.

I wear the shirt every day while riding. Sometimes under my MSR jacket and sometimes just with a hi-viz vest. I like the color combinations and the armor seems well made.

Fit:

Overall, the shirt is comfortable and breathable, even in hot and humid weather. The material seems fairly sturdy, although, the thumb hole seams are starting to fray already, after only two months of use.

Cons: a. The armored padding velcro strap connections on the breastplate are not adjustable, so you cannot vary the height of where the breastplate is placed on your chest. The breastplate seems to be a "one size fits all" piece even though I ordered the XXL size, the breastplate does not cover my 48in. size chest.
b. The elbow/forearm velcro straps have very little adjustment, so my "popeye" sized forearms are squeezed tight by the straps , which is uncomfortable after a long ride.

I would guess that if you are of an average size, this armor would suit you well. Me being 6'4" and 230 lbs. I don't fit into the "one size fits all" approach to anything.

Note: I had the Bohn Adventure Armored shirt for almost 3 years and it held up well, even after repeated machine washes and minor get-offs while trail riding.

Finally, don't buy this product if you like to shed your motorcycle apparel quickly to do errands. There is nothing quick about putting this side zip entry product on or taking it off. That's the trade off for profound upper body protection.

Better than nothing

The armor is CE rated and it is stated it can take multiple collisions and continue to be used. I hope to never have to find out. The armor covers all the impact areas and it it light weight with plenty of ventilation. The only issue was the Velcro in the arms as it was to tight. I had to take to a tailor to have additional Velcro added and now it fits perfect. It cost 20 dollars labor from the tailor and 14 dollars for the Velcro. Adding this price to the cost of the jacket I still think this is a great deal. Should I crash I will return to rate the armor in the crash. Since I had to tailor the item to fit me I could not rate it a 5.
